This ministry is led by Marcelino Estrada with the help of his family including his wife, Beatriz; their daughter, Verena, sons Jorge and William.  Together they work to reach the Hispanic community for Christ.  They call their group "Ebenezer Outreach".

There are an estimated 180,000 to 220,000 Hispanics in the Kansas City area.  Most of them live in the downtown area, but many are gradually moving east toward Independence and Rockwood is the first church in the Independence area to try and reach the Hispanic community.  Recently, there have been two other churches in the area to start Hispanic ministries.

This year's activities: 2010

This year the Confraternidad Bautista Hispana de Missouri (Hispanic Baptist Convention of Missouri) held their XXV annual convention here in Kansas City on July 9 and 10 2010. Our Hispanic Ministry hosted the event to over 150 people that came from all over Missouri. This years theme was: “Unidos para que el mundo crea.” Guest speaker Rev. Josué Bahena Torres from Guerrero, Mexico, also a great friend of the Estrada family of many years. The event took place here at our Rockwood church were over 155 people took part of the event. Glory to God for that!

Last fall, Beatriz had the opportunity to visit with a group of children at Trailridge Kids Country Program at the Lee's Summit Elementary School.  She shared with them about the children in Mexico and the children in Lee's Summit decided to begin collecting toys for the Mexican children.  Below is a picture of the children in Mexico receiving gifts.

The Ebenezer Group actively supports a mission in the mountains of Mexico.  Last summer the Estrada family went to Mexico and helped their friend, Abraham Torres, a pastor in Mexico, start a new church among the people group there.  There are a variety of dialects spoken among the Mexicans in the mountains.  Abraham has also started a Seminary in Mexico where he can train leaders to go to the villages in the mountains and share the Gospel.   Below is a picture of supplies being unloaded from a truck taken to Mexico by the Estradas when they went to visit.
